What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Research Assistant I BWH Neurology position at Brigham and Women's Hospital?
Working under general supervision from lab members, executes protocols involving a variety of routine and non-routine experiments at a professional level. Troubleshoots and implements modifications on existing techniques, as appropriate. May suggest alternate technical routes and suggest options based upon research in the literature. Calculates, transcribes, and analyzes data using proper techniques. This is a great opportunity for a student who is looking for research experience.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain (breed) and genotype (PCR) transgenic mice.
Euthanize/perfuse mice, extract organs, conduct protein extractions, histological sections and assist in microscopical imaging.
Assist or perform mouse therapeutical treatments and behavioral studies (motor/cognition).
Order or maintain reagents and supplies and prepare needed reagents for all procedures.
Perform different surgical techniques such as Controlled Cortical Impact (CCI) and intra cerebral hemorrhage (ICH) under CCM guidelines.
Discusses progress of work regularly with supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.Sc. in life sciences required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, comfortable talking on the phone

- Ability to work well independently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to interact with a variety of people and on the telephone.
