Job Description Summary

They provide deep and general cleaning services to all campus facilities as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities

General Preventative Maintenance and Deep Cleaning (75%)

  • Follows a detailed scope of work to deep clean campus facilities which may include but is not limited to shampooing carpets, stripping and waxing floors; transporting and replacing furniture sofas, tables and chairs; picking up trash, clearing cleaning building surroundings, parking lots and dumpster areas; pressure wash walkways, stairwells, courtyards, high outside windows and screens; scrub clean bathrooms, kitchens, appliances; laundering curtains, and cleaning towels, etc.
  • Follows a preventative maintenance cleaning schedule.
  • Responsible to report pest control issues such as bugs, cockroaches, flying termites, wood ants, etc.
  • Conduct daily walkthroughs of the facilities ensuring the premises are safe, clean and presentable.
  • Report and follow up on all customer concerns.
  • Keeps record of service calls and work orders.
  • Performs and documents routine inspection and maintenance activities.
  • Clean, stock and supply designated facility areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning etc.).
  • Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs.
  • Complete and submit all paperwork as assigned in a timely manner, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Student Supervision and Training (15%)

  • Ensure that student workers are properly trained while working with machinery and hazardous materials; instruct co-workers and crew in safety rules and protocol; participate in the Safe Colleges training program. All training should be documented specific to each employee.
  • Train student workers in protocol and other safety matters.
  • Preserve the confidentiality of personal student information by abiding by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Meetings and Office Work(10%)

  • Meet with direct supervisor for daily instructions and assignments from supervisor.
  • Attends weekly team meetings.
  • Attends annual performance review with supervisor
  • Attends training as required.
  • Reports additional concerns to supervisor

Education and Work Experience

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills

  • Computer experience required to receive, review and send e-mails and perform basic computer functions.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work well under stressful conditions.
  • Must be able to communicate well in English and have the ability to explain things correctly.

License or Certification

  • Current Hawaii driver's license required.

Work Schedule

  • 30/30/30/19 hours per week Monday through Friday with some weekends during summer and between semester breaks. Must be able to work on-call.
  • Assume scheduled on-call duty responsibilities, which may cover night-time, weekend, holiday and break periods.

Federal, state, institutional or other types of regulations that influence job responsibilities. All activities must conform to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Work Environment

Employee has a small office located in the storage area where cleaning equipment, furniture, beddings and linens are stored. Most of the employees time will be spent in the field performing the duties listed above.

Equipment Used

Various maintenance tools. For example: screwdrivers, hammers, plus wet vacs, carpet shampooers, floor-waxers and floor-strippers, vacuums, computer, cell phone, copy machine, and printer.

Physical Requirements

Employee must be able to stand, climb, walk, push, pull, kneel, stoop, crawl, crouch, reach, hear and see and lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

To be eligible for employment, applicants who are members of the Church must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend and receive a clearance from the Churchs Ecclesiastical Clearance Office. Job applicants must be able to meet these conditions to advance through the hiring process successfully. An expired temple recommend will prevent consideration for hire.
