Collection Manager of Genomic Resources
The Collection Manager of Genomic Resources at the Bean Life Science Museum (hereafter MLBM or Museum) will be responsible for the overall organization, data basing, maintenance (i.e. curation) and day-to-day operations of the centralized cryogenic facility at the MLBM.

Job Description
Collection Manager of Genomic Resources
The Collection Manager of Genomic Resources at the Bean Life Science Museum (hereafter MLBM or Museum) will be responsible for the overall organization, data basing, maintenance (i.e. curation) and day-to-day operations of the centralized cryogenic facility at the MLBM.
What You’ll Do In This Position
- Databasing activities: QR-code tubes, enter collection data into a centralized database, data transcription, and museum specimen voucher/tissue/DNA cross referencing. Develop a central registry for all genomic products and a formal method to track how genetic resources are accessioned into the collection.
- Mentoring and Training: Develop a central registry for all genomic products and a formal method to track how genetic resources are accessioned into the collection.
- Curation activities: Develop a central registry for all genomic products and a formal method to track how genetic resources are accessioned into the collection.
What qualifies you for this role:
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
- BS in biological sciences
- Ability to think and operate independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills for dealing effectively with faculty curators and students
- BS degree with emphasis in bioinformatics or biodiversity and/or MS degree in a program with collection-based activities
- One-year (or more) experience working with collections
- Experience working within a museum
- Training in bioinformatics and the ability to develop novel workflow procedures/software that will streamline genomic resource curation and databasing
