Digital Media PR Coordinator
Do you want to work in strategic communications in a dynamic setting? Do you have dreams of managing your own team? Do you enjoy storytelling? This job is ideal for an individual who wants PR agency experience in a university setting and is ideal for a recent grad or BYU senior. We are looking for an organized, self-driven individual to coordinate strategy, work with clients and lead the External Relations web and photo/design teams for the College of Fine Arts and Communications.
As the Digital PR Coordinator, you will: report to the Assistant Dean of External Relations; assist with public relations for the College of Fine Arts and Communications; participate in project management, create and execute strategic digital marketing campaigns for CFAC; analyze website metrics and report key findings to stakeholders; and help create graphics for digital mediums and assist in various strategic communications and marketing projects.
Company Name and Brief Description: The award-winning College of Fine Arts and Communications’ External Relations team writes all of the event press releases, assists in arts promotion for the performing arts, creates and supports all websites, works on campaigns relating to the college and university and assists the college’s dean. The team also manages and oversees the college’s social media pages, as well as the School of Communications, Department of Dance, Department of Theatre and Media Arts and the School of Music social media accounts.

What You’ll Do In This Position
- Assist the Assistant Dean in developing coordination, communication and information processes between the college and its academic units.
- Supervise student employees in the External Relations office for the web and photo teams.
- Manage team projects.
- Manage the growth, content and strategy of various websites for the College and academic units.
- Collaborate with the social and editorial teams by providing visual content for platforms such as the BYU news releases, feature stories, newsletters and social posts.
- Create monthly/annual reports for the External Relations office to track analytics.
- Assist in hiring and recruitment.
- Support experiential/inspiring learning through various campaigns.
- Work with the Assistant Dean to amass visual content to support pitch ideas to University Communications and outside media
- Assist in the execution of the college’s strategic communications plan by helping to develop and implement promotional strategies for college events, performances, and departments—including contests and campaigns.
- Assist managing communication and brand messaging for the college.
Required
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Education/Experience
- Related Experience
- Project management skills
- Excellent time management
- History of meeting deadlines
- Well-developed organizational, communication, and writing skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work with people at all levels of an organization
- Ability to work well with others and feel comfortable speaking in front of a group
- Experience with Brightspot or other website creation software
- Proficient in database and spreadsheet software use (Word, Excel, Google Drive)
- Management experience
- Public relations writing experience
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS Public relations writing experience
- Experience creating graphics/images for social media posts
- Experience with DSLR cameras and photography
- Experience with Basecamp (optional)
- Knowledge of AP style
- Experience with design programs, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator (Adobe Creative Suite)
- Experience working with email newsletter programs, specifically MailChimp
- Longevity preferred - commitment of at least two semesters (8-12 months)
