Job Description
Digital Media Specialist
Plays a crucial role in BYU Marriott School of Business's digital marketing and communications strategy. This position leads the creation and execution of strategic digital and social media marketing campaigns, analyzes metrics, writes marketing copy, creates graphics, and manages a student employee team. As the primary driver of the school's social media presence, you'll connect with students, alumni, and other stakeholders while contributing to the school's broader marketing initiatives. This position reports to the public relations and marketing manager.
What You’ll Do In This Position
What qualifies you for this role:
Ability to develop an appropriate and specific voice for each social media platform and their audiences
Experience in measuring and reporting on both campaign successes and opportunities for improvement
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality
Understanding of how to manage employees and provide constructive feedback and mentorship
Experience with photography and photo editing for social media
Strong analytical skills to evaluate performance metrics and adapt strategies accordingly
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Creative problem-solving abilities
Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently
Proficiency with social media management tools and analytics platforms

Job Description
Digital Media Specialist

As the primary driver of the school's social media presence, you'll connect with students, alumni, and other stakeholders while contributing to the school's broader marketing initiatives. This position reports to the public relations and marketing manager.
What You’ll Do In This Position
- Plan and execute thoroughly researched social media campaigns that drive engagement and community building among students, alumni, and other followers
- Create and distribute detailed analytical reports for stakeholders that provide critical feedback to decision makers
- Make recommendations for future campaigns based on in-depth analysis of KPIs and social media marketing best practices
- Expand audiences across various social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram
- Respond to inquiries, posts, and direct messages on official BYU Marriott social media accounts
- Write short-form marketing/public relations copy for social media, websites, and other digital platforms
- Create unique graphics for social media posts and campaigns for various BYU Marriott events and initiatives
- Supervise and mentor a small team of student employees providing them with meaningful career-building experiences
- Work with student teams to collect data and feedback on the effectiveness of social media campaigns
- Collaborate with BYU Marriott Student Leadership Advisory Council to execute marketing and social media ideas
- Assist with various marketing and communications projects throughout the office as needed
- Monitor engagement metrics and adjust strategies to optimize performance
- Stay current with social media trends and platform updates to ensure maximum effectiveness
What qualifies you for this role:
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
- Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, or communications OR equivalent social media management experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Experience in developing and executing cross-platform social media campaigns
- Deep understanding of LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram platforms and corresponding audiences
- Experience in graphic design and utilizing visual brand guidelines
- Marketing/social media content writing experience
- Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, or communications AND two or more years of social media management and writing experience, especially for students and alumni audiences
- Public relations writing experience
- Experience creating graphics/images specifically for social media posts
- Previous supervisory experience
