Job Description
Director, Admissions
The Director of Admissions is the chief admissions officer for the university. This position is responsible for defining and implementing a strategy for admissions that will be approved by the President’s Council. Additionally, the Director of Admissions is responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships with various enrollment services organizations at other CES schools and other areas on campus. As such, this position will require collaboration with multiple units on campus (OIT, Colleges, Offices within Enrollment Services, and others as directed by the Executive Director). The position will also coordinate with key CES administrators.
The Director of Admissions reports directly to the Executive Director of Enrollment Services. Specific duties will be assigned and managed by the Executive Director and may change over time as needed.

What You’ll Do In This Position
Define and Implement Admissions Strategy
- Continually evaluate and consider the university admission strategy and recommend changes to ensure that the university continues to adequately distinguish among highly qualified applicants.
- Oversee all aspects of the university admission process.
- Administer the Admission Application Read process. Continually evaluate and consider ways to improve the process to ensure alignment with the university admission strategy.
- Coordinate with other CES institutions to ensure that the university strategy is understood. Assess impact of decisions and ensure admissions process integrity.
- Serve as the face of admissions on committees as assigned.
- Address exceptions and appeals related to admission decisions.
- Maintain a deep understanding of admissions systems and technology best practices to ensure that the admission process and systems are current and support the mission of the university.
- Direct admissions-related research efforts in collaboration with research groups within Enrollment Services and across the university.
- Collaborate with OIT, Enrollment Services, and other university areas and committees to ensure that there is widespread buy-in to proposed changes to admissions application philosophy.
- Identify criteria that will be useful in distinguishing among the candidates.
- Meet regularly with the university executives to ensure that the admissions application strategy and vision is aligned with their needs.
- Collaborate with the Office of the CIO and the CIO for CES regarding the admissions and decision processing systems and their impact on admissions decisions.
- Continually evaluate and consider the outreach and marketing strategy and recommend changes as needed to ensure that the university is properly represented at appropriate events.
- Define a technology strategy to appropriately increase outreach.
- Oversee coordination with other CES schools and other schools as necessary to maintain positive relationships.
- Ensure that all outreach efforts, publications, websites, etc. meet or exceed Enrollment Services division quality standards.
- Oversee all aspects of the Admissions Office
- Address personnel issues as necessary
- Develop a healthy office culture that encourages inter- and intra-office collaboration
- Attend conferences, workshop, tutorials, etc. to stay abreast of current admissions policies and trends.
- Promote a positive image of the Admissions Office and of the University
- Support activities of the Executive Director of Enrollment Services and other University departments
- Relate well with other University employees
- Adhere to University standards and policies
- Promote awareness and compliance with University citizenship standards within the division
- Maintain good public relations with campus departments, off-campus vendors, and BYU students, faculty, and staff by properly and expeditiously handling their service needs, questions, and problems.
- Represent Enrollment Services on University committees as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of experience in higher education administration.
