Job Description
Occupational Safety Coordinator
The Occupational Safety Coordinator will help manage the CPR/AED/First Aid program, CMV and Competent Person program, and oversee the Safety Graphic Designers team’s projects.
**Note: This is a part-time position - 17.5 hours per week**
What you’ll do in this position:
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification Program
- Manage the American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid program for both Adult and Pediatric certifications and give all the in-person trainings.
- CMV and DOT Programs
- Oversee the Department of Transportation (DOT) files, documentation, notifications, communications, billing, and the upkeep of their expiration dates.
- Be the assigned Competent Person and perform all Truck and Trailer Practicals on campus.
- Assist with all accident investigations, follow up appointments, and the update of the information in the Church’s system.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of BYU’s safety policies and procedures.
- New Initiatives
- Supervise the Graphic Designer team’s projects and upkeep of online training.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of campus buildings, labs, and workspaces to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, and university regulations.
What qualifies you for this role:
Required
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
- High School diploma.
Preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and other regulatory safety standards.
Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications:
Required
- American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor certification or with the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with departments and employees.
- Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism, good interpersonal skills, and be sensitive to issues of confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other management software.
- Excellent work ethic and leadership skills with the ability to work independently.
Preferred
- Experience in training program development and public speaking.
- Previous experience and comfortable with training, public speaking, or teaching.
- Well organized with attention to detail a must.
- Ability to learn quickly.

Actual compensation based on education and experience
