Job Description

Position Overview

The School of Accounting (SOA) Career Manager serves as a vital link between accounting students and potential employers/graduate programs. Working under the SOA Career Director, this role manages recruiting events, develops employer relationships, and guides students through career development opportunities. The position combines event management, relationship building, and student advising to create pathways for accounting students to secure internships, full-time positions, and admission to graduate programs.

What you’ll do in this position:

  • Organize and manage employer information sessions, tabling events, and recruiting efforts on campus, focusing on internship and full-time opportunities
  • Plan and execute SOA-sponsored recruiting events such as Meet the Firms and Career Options Day
  • Coordinate Networking Trips (Net Treks), including company selection, travel arrangements, and student preparation
  • Manage alternative MAcc program recruitment efforts and information sessions to support students pursuing graduate education
  • Develop and maintain the structure, content, and grading of the ACC599R internship-for-credit course
  • Source and cultivate relationships with new employer partners to expand opportunities for SOA students
  • Establish connections with alternative MAcc programs to broaden graduate education options
  • Provide one-on-one guidance to students exploring various MAcc program options
  • Track student placement data and manage reporting in the MSB Student Placement Database
  • Collaborate with the SOA Alumni Director to leverage alumni connections for new partnerships
  • Promote student engagement with recruiting events through various communication channels
  • Ensure students understand application processes for various graduate programs
  • Facilitate communications between employers/programs and students
  • Work with the Career Director to continuously improve recruitment strategies and outcomes
  • Represent the SOA at recruiting events to strengthen institutional relationships

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • 2 years of relevant corporate experience
  • Professional experience within a corporate environment
  • Experience collaborating across organizations to achieve objectives
  • Demonstrated competencies with diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
  • Strong critical thinking and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High emotional intelligence, collaborative approach, and empathy
  • Problem-solving abilities and innovative thinking
  • Excellent relationship-building skills

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Economics)
  • 5 years combined experience in public accounting and corporate accounting
  • Comfort using the latest office technology
  • Experience in higher education or career services
  • Knowledge of accounting career paths and industry trends

Pay Grade: 51

Compensation Range

Actual compensation based on education and experience

$28.20 - $35.78
