Job Description
System Administrator
The College of Family, Home, and Social Sciences seeks a skilled and motivated System Administrator to maintain and support the college's IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal system performance, security, and availability. In this role, you will handle escalations, deploy and manage server and network resources, and collaborate with teams to support to faculty, staff, and students' IT needs. We are looking for someone who will exemplify the teachings of Christ in daily interactions, working with the Director of FHSS Computing Services and the rest of the management team to support the overall mission of the College. What you'll do in this position :
- Manage, monitor, and maintain both Linux and Windows servers, including overseeing the deployment and configuration of new servers, applications, and services
- Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patches to ensure system accuracy and reliability.
- Provide technical guidance and training to faculty, staff, and student employees, and serve as the escalation point for Level 2 support to resolve complex technical issues.
- Implement and enforce IT security policies, including user access controls and data protection.
- Conduct regular security audits, risk assessments, and vulnerability scans, while ensuring compliance with institutional policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Participate in IT projects, including planning, implementation, and pot-implementation support.
- Contribute to IT strategy and recommend improvements or innovations.
- Coordinate with other departments to understand and address their specific IT needs.
- Guide and teach students best security practices, and teach them new skills to fulfill their job responsibilities.
