What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Manager Application Development - Remote position at Bright Horizons Children's Centers?
The Application Development Senior Manager will serve as a lead architect in the design and development of software systems and subsystems for our EdAdvisory division, and more specifically our Bright Horizons College Coach program. Reporting to the VP of Applications Development for EdAdvisory, this role will work with internal teams to conduct design and participate in all phases of SDLC.
This is a Remote position available in the United States, with frequent travel to our Newton, MA Headquarters.
Bright Horizons College Coach has been assisting families in achieving their education goals for more than 20 years. This team works with tens of thousands of families who receive our services for free through their employer-sponsored benefit and hundreds more via our more traditional independent consulting service.
Responsibilities:
- Be part of a fast paced, highly technical development team responsible for developing and delivering SaaS solutions
- Serve as a lead architect in the design, and develop software systems and subsystems. Work within the software team and across other lines of business to determine the proper approach to software development challenges.
- Research and champion new technologies and approaches. Learn and prototype. Make recommendations based on upcoming product and project roadmaps
- Conduct design and code reviews and provide feedback on engineering best practices
- Mentor and guide other software engineers within the team
- Participate in all phases of SDLC: from system analysis to technical design and development and test to deployment and support
Qualifications:
- 8 years of development experience in the Microsoft technology stack (Azure, .net, and C#) is required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering is required (an additional 3 years of relevant experience would be considered in lieu of degree)
- Experience in designing and developing RESTful microservices and APIs
- Strong practical experience building Micro-services using DDD, Event Driven Architecture
- Deep understanding of modern web application and API design patterns
- Experience with Azure cloud services like AppService, Function app, Storage, APIM, Azure Service Bus
- Experience using Azure devOps /GIT based source control systems
- Relational databases and .Net EF core experience is required
- Good understanding of Type Script, Angular, Micro Frontend
- Strong experience building and maintaining a reusable components library
- Experience as a technical leader in an organization. This includes coaching and mentoring, working through complex problems, and working with our business partners to deliver an amazing experience for our clients
- Plan and coordinate cross-team activities groups to complete assignments
- Excellent communication and influencing skills to integrate effectively into the inclusive culture

Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $155,000 - $165,000 annually. The pay range listed here is what Bright Horizons in good faith anticipates offering for this job opening. Actual compensation offers within this range will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education and training, certifications, geography, and other relevant business or organizational factors.
This position is also eligible for a 5% bonus plan.

Also, depending on hire date and subject to applicable eligibility requirements and accrual schedules, new employees in this role receive up to: 9 paid holidays annually; 40 hours of sick time per year based on full-time schedule, and 120 hours of vacation time per year based on full-time schedule(vacation time may be used for sick leave purposes under any applicable state or local sick or safe time law).
