Senior Accountant: Job Description
Senior Accountant provides general accounting and financial reporting for multiple entities within the organization. Duties include reconciliation of bank accounts, review of accounts payable cycle, analysis of accounts and activity, performing month-end closes, financial reporting, and assisting the accounting department/Controller in ad hoc projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close processes
- Complete full balance reconciliations
- Identify and resolve accounting system issues as they arise – coordinate with third party vendors to resolve, if necessary
- Full-cycle accounting associated with accounting operations. This includes:
- A/P cycle, which includes supervising of invoice processing and check cutting
- A/R cycle, which includes supervising of remote deposit check process, entering of receipts into accounting software, and analysis with billing issues for multiple entities
- Bill back invoicing to intercompany and third party entities for reimbursement of expenses
- Accurate and timely posting of journal entries, which includes payroll, insurance, income/expense allocations, accruals and related accounting activity for the period
- Posting of credit card expense transactions for multiple entities, including billing back of intercompany expenses
- Manage Fixed Assets, including capitalization, analysis, depreciation and disposal, if any
- Annual analysis of vendors and payments for year end issuing of 1099s
- Assist with annual property tax analysis and reconciliation
- Prepare various reports for executive level review
- Prepare/support quarterly consolidation process
- Participate in annual audit, including answering auditor inquires and completing support requests
- Assist in preparation of annual consolidated financial statements
- Research technical GAAP standards and provide summary
- Preparation of quarterly outside investor reporting, including any audit procedures
- Contribute to budgeting development process and ongoing budget vs actuals comparison
- Assist with any other projects or tasks that should arise in conjunction with the accounting for the Company’s various entities
Qualifications/Skills
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field is required
- Minimum 5 years of relative accounting experience
- Working knowledge of GAAP
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to use resources effectively
- Resolve accounting issues proactively and efficiently
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrates ability to take initiative, to maintain confidentiality, to meet deadlines, and to work in a team environment
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
