WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR :
HR Compliance Officer
Location : Arlington Heights
Days / Hours : 6-12 hours per week on average, flexible hybrid schedule
WHAT A TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE :
- Measuring current compliance with relevant state and federal legislation across the business ensuring we meet all standards for any external audits
- Reporting to management on status, proposed improvements, and impending legislative changes
- Develop, implement, and update HR policies to align with local, state, and federal labor laws
- Conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure compliance procedures are followed
- Keep informed regarding pending industry changes, trends, and best practices and assess the impact of these changes on organizational processes
- Draft disciplinary communications and perform full review of employee files for all actions up to and including termination
- Consult with business attorney as necessary to address difficult legal compliance issues
- Disseminate written policies and procedures related to compliance activities
- Regularly reviewing employee handbook policies for needed updates and amendments
- Provide guidance and support to management during investigations, offering expertise in regulatory requirements and ethical considerations
- Identify compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Ensure the organization complies with regulations such as FMLA, FLSA, ADA, EEO, and OSHA standards
- Assist with conflict resolutions for complaints related to legal or policy violation
- Foster a legally compliant workplace culture while protecting the organization from legal risks
- Lead investigations related to employee grievances, harassment, or policy violations
- Perform other duties as assigned
