Job Summary:
As a Migration Business Analyst, you will be responsible for planning, analyzing, and executing IT or data migration projects. The candidate shall work closely with technical teams, stakeholders, and business units to ensure the seamless transfer of systems, applications, or data while maintaining functionality and data integrity.
Experience: 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst with a focus on IT migration, cloud adoption, or workload migration
Roles & Responsibilities:
Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering:
Collaborate with business units and IT teams to understand the requirements and goals for workload migration, including cost optimization, performance improvement, and scalability.
Gather detailed business and technical requirements for workloads to be migrated, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the applications, data, and infrastructure.
Analyse current workloads, identify migration dependencies, and document the readiness of workloads for migration (cloud, hybrid, on-premises).
Document functional, non-functional, and technical requirements to ensure alignment with business objectives.
Migration Strategy & Planning:
Assist in developing the migration strategy, defining the migration approach (lift-and-shift, re-platforming, re-factoring) based on the business needs and technical feasibility.
Support the creation of migration roadmaps, timelines, and resource plans in collaboration with IT and project management teams.
Identify and document potential risks and challenges in the migration process, and work with technical teams to develop mitigation strategies.
Workload Assessment & Mapping:
Review and document assessments of existing workloads (applications, databases, systems, etc.) to understand their architecture, dependencies, and criticality to the business.
Collaborate with technical teams to map workloads to the target environments (cloud platforms, data centers, hybrid environments).
Analyse and document workload compatibility, integration points, and potential challenges during the migration process.
Testing & Validation:
Coordinate and support testing efforts during migration phases, ensuring that workloads are properly validated in the target environment (performance, functionality, security).
Work with QA teams to develop testing plans, execute test cases, and track defects or issues during the migration.
Assist in managing user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure that the migrated workloads meet business requirements and user expectations.
Post-Migration Support & Optimization:
Support post-migration activities, including validating that workloads are performing as expected in the new environment.
Identify opportunities for optimization and fine-tuning of the migrated workloads to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Ensure the migration delivers the expected business value, including improved performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
