What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Coordinator position at Brighter Beginnings Learning Center?
The Preschool Coordinator is a key team member who works closely with the Lead and Assistant teaching staff in the preschool program (ages 3-5) to ensure those staff have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively operate their classrooms. The Preschool Coordinator works under the guidance of the center Director to train, mentor, evaluate, coach, and assist in problem solving with the primary classroom staff. The Preschool Coordinator will also serve as a fill-in teacher during times of need.
Essential Functions:
- Establish and sustain a true professional learning community — a place where the facility staff see each new day as an opportunity.
- Assist in the structuring of conditions that support staff effectiveness and program excellence.
- Build intentional and positive working relationships with teaching staff where effective mentoring and coaching can take place.
- Evaluation and observation of teaching staff. Provide ongoing mentoring and coaching to preschool classroom staff through spending time in classrooms to introduce and support new ideas, strategies, etc.
- Assist in training new staff in partnership with Lead Teachers and Director.
- Engage in problem solving with the teaching staff to remove barriers that impact a classroom’s educational experience.
- Ensure teaching staff are following state and federal requirements for caring for young children and adhere to center policies and procedures.
- Assist teaching staff in providing a safe, calm, welcoming environment for all children and parents.
- Assist teaching staff with parent communication when necessary (help to build a teacher’s confidence and effectiveness when communicating with families).
- Serve as an in-house resource for teachers to build and refine environmental rating scales (ERS) knowledge, including classroom evaluation and setup assessments.
- Assists in the preparation and publication of correspondence such as the monthly newsletters, annual reports, and event programs.
- Maintains documents, files and records providing accurate and up-to-date reference.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
