Job Overview
Summary: Responsible for the day to day care and supervision of the youth participating in the Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
DUTIES
· Provides for the care, supervision, observation, and protection of youth. In a Trauma Informed system.
· Thorough knowledge of the Continuum of Care Reform and Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program goals and objectives.
- Administers discipline and sets limits for behavior.
- Supervises and participates in planned or directed activities.
- Participates in-group counseling, treatment planning sessions and in-service training.
- Helps implement resident treatment plans and directed activities.
- Instructs youth in self-maintenance and life skills.
- Helps youth develop interpersonal and communication skills.
- Inventories resident's clothes, household linen and other supplies, as needed.
- Responsible for the following household duties: menu planning; assisting with food preparation; supervision of residents with food preparation; cooking food for residents; supervision of residents while learning to cook; supervision and performance of housekeeping chores.
- Writes daily log narratives on youth and various reports, as required.
- May act as liaison to youths' authorized representatives, community residents, school personnel, low enforcement personnel and others, as needed.
- Transports youth to medical/dental appointments, for clothing and directed activities, as needed or required.
- Dispenses medication and performs minor first aid, as needed. Responsible for youths' clothing needs, including the supervision or performance of clothes washing.
- Have a complete understanding in regards to the type of youth who will enter in the residential program and have the ability to adjust and maintain the congregate care environment according to agency’s mission and program deliveries
- Must be able to adjust in crisis situations, must be able to work and handle crisis situation that may or may not involve law enforcement, hospital mental and physical.
- Gives instructions to children regarding desirable health and personal habits.
- Plans and leads recreational activities and participates or instructs children in games.
- Disciplines children and recommends or initiates other measures to control behavior.
- Counsels or provides similar diagnostic or therapeutic services to mentally disturbed, delinquent, or disabled children.
- Escorts child to designated activities.
- Performs housekeeping duties in children's living area.
- Submit daily youth counts and required documentation to regulatory agencies.
- Work with the Case Manager and program director in case plans/needs and services and quartiles
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

- Working with SED youth: 1 year (Required)
