Job Summary:

As part of the Onboard Service team, you will play a critical role in delivering a safe, and enjoyable onboard guest experience for our premium guests.  Onboard Lead will support the Onboard Leadership team in the daily onboard operation, providing exceptional service.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist the Onboard Service Team in using designated communication systems to confirm the train is ready for departure and arrival.
  • Assist guests in locating their seats, escorting them as appropriate.
  • Provide food and beverage service to guests throughout the train, using suggestive selling techniques.  Service is provided by repetitively push and pull service cart through aisles and through Order to Seat service.  
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all F&B menu offerings.
  • Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages and snacks adhering to Company standards; ensure guests are satisfied with their selections and engage in friendly conversation throughout.
  • Serve alcoholic beverages adhering to Company established standards, including visually checking and verifying proper identification.
  • Inspect service support areas to ensure adherence to Company sanitation requirements.
  • Perform light cleaning and resetting of the train at station turn-around and final terminals.
  • Process credit card transactions for purchases via a mobile Point of Sale device.
  • Assist in training newly hired Train Attendants on Brightline’s steps of service and safety standards.
  • Assist Management in monitoring inventory levels and guiding other teammates to complete tasks guest service standards.
  • Prepare shift reports to include physical headcount, safety and security matters, delays, incidents, guest experience, staffing levels, and maintenance concerns.
  • Assign POS devices to train attendants and verify they are all in working order to begin service.
  • Receive & inspect all F&B carts with train and commissary attendants to ensure all products are consistent with our opening inventory for the designated shift.
  • Monitor onboard offerings and inventory levels and advise Onboard Leadership team on needed items.
  • Ensure that all Onboard activities are carried out safely and to Brightline’s standards of quality.
  • Report safety concerns to the Onboard Leadership team immediately.
  • Complete necessary reports and file appropriately. Report equipment issues. 
  • Maintain communication with onboard team on train and leadership throughout the shift as needed.
  • Assist in handling and solving escalated guest concerns in an open, friendly, professional, and confident manner.
  • Deliver public address announcements to standard, providing friendly journey information and a positive message to guests.
  • Pay close attention to guests with special needs, guests with children, or guests with heavy luggage.
  • Ensure that all possible assistance and information is provided to guests during periods of service disruption.
  • Follow Company protocols to manage any unscheduled or emergency situations as trained.
  • Ensure that all Onboard activities are carried out safely and to Brightline’s standards of quality.
  • Monitor and review all Brightline communication channels, including our company intranet, bConnected, during work hours to ensure all company and department communications and notifications are promptly reviewed.

Qualifications

  • Six months or more of experience in guest service, sales, or food & beverage service.
  • Minimum of 18 years old.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the prevention of foodborne illnesses and health regulations.
  • Ability to repetitively push and pull service cart through aisles and doors to service the guest while standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • Must be able and willing to work any shift or on weekends and holidays based on operational needs as necessary. 
  • Proven ability to deal effectively with guests, management, teammates, and outside contacts while working under pressure.
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Detailed oriented, with the ability to be adaptable to a variety of situations. 
  • Willingness to work inside a train for a minimum of 8 hours a day. 
  • Communicate effectively in English both in oral and written form, interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance adhering to Brightline standards.

·         You must be able to move and lift heavy objects in a variety of directions including over your head, traverse across uneven terrain, exchange information in person and over electronic devices/systems, ascend/descend ladders, perceive the physical environment around you, and perform all safety-related procedures.
