Your Purpose
As the Manager of Engineering Technology, you will oversee all aspects of the Brightline Engineering team’s use of technology. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for all required FRA testing and regulations, and the management of the data ingested. You will manage all the documentation needed to stay FRA compliant with respect to track inspections, VTI, ATGMS, TGMS, Ultrasonic Rail Testing, and any other FRA requirements within the Engineering department. You will oversee compliance within the Engineering Department as well as third party work processes. Finally, you will collaborate with Herzog on day-to-day maintenance operations.

Your Role
- Track Management: Manage the VTI, ATGMS, TGMS, and Ultrasonic Rail Testing for all areas in which Brightline is responsible for. Manage Track Asset, Track Inventory, and other related Track Management programs.
- Technology: Manage the implementation of new technology across the rail corridor. Work with new and current vendors on system improvements and implementations.
- Safety & Compliance: Collaborate with third parties on ROW access agreements to insure Brightline’s trains, employees, and passengers are kept safe. Ensure compliance of FRA Regulations to include 49 CFR (213, 214, 217, 218, 220, 237 and 243) and supports track work and inspections. Work with the Safety & Security team and the Legal department on ROW issues. Support of the Brightline Maintenance team 24-7 for emergency response.
- Project & Contract Management: Facilitator for setting up new vendors with Brightline, in coordination with the purchasing team/ legal. Inventory identification and management of all maintenance technology related items in the Brightline VMF Engineering Storage Room, Laydown Yard, and Herzog Building F. Help manage the Engineering Technology budget within the Engineering Department budget and the cost associated with each system or product. Manage the third-party work process for access to Brightline owned track and infrastructure. Support of creating Standards and Procedures for the Brightline Engineering Department. Invoice confirmation and validation prior to payment processing.
- Communication: Monitor and review all Brightline communication channels, including our company intranet, bConnected, during work hours to ensure all company and department communications and notifications are promptly reviewed.
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or similar program or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Minimum of five years of Railroad experience with concentration on the track testing or managing track maintenance
- Knowledge of all applicable FRA Regulations
- Knowledge of Ensco ATGMS systems, TGMS, VTI, and UTT systems
- Prior contract negotiation experience
- Regulatory and Certification: 213.7 Qualifications a plus. Certification in Railroad Bridge Inspections a plus
- Technical Skills:
- Digital Asset management systems (Railroad Software Track Assets, SAP, IBM Maximo or similar product)
- Enhanced PDF Experience (Bluebeam Revu or similar)
- Technical Skills: Proficient in computer skills – Microsoft office applications and other relevant technologies
- Regulatory Standards: Familiarity with FRA regulations and other industry standards
- Project Management: Ability to plan, execute, and oversee projects, including budgeting and scheduling
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with teams and stakeholders
- Attention to Detail: Precision in managing technical specifications and compliance requirements
- Adaptability: Flexibility to handle various tasks and adapt to new technologies. Be a self-starter and have the ability to work alone
- Collaboration: Ability to work well with third parties, vendors, and internal teams
- Safety-focused and diligence to continuously perform high-quality work
- Ability to support Railroad operations on 24/7 emergency coverage
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide training and/or work direction to other teammates within the organization in the management and execution of their areas of responsibility.
- 80% In-Office required. Works in a clean, air-conditioned office space, free of noise, dust, and humidity. Minimal fieldwork equals less than 20% field work as needed.
- Support of the Brightline Maintenance team 24-7 for emergency response.
- Support other projects as assigned.
