After Brightline Florida completed the first passenger rail system connecting Miami and Orlando, Brightline West was formed to connect Las Vegas and Southern California through the nation’s first true high-speed, electric passenger rail system. Reaching speeds of more than 186 miles per hour, this 218-mile high-speed rail service will take passengers from Las Vegas to the Greater Los Angeles area twice as fast as the normal drive time.

SUMMARY
For Brightline West’s 2025 Summer Internship Program, we are looking for a Civil Engineer Intern to support our Construction Infrastructure team in Las Vegas, NV. This individual will support senior team members with contractor and consultant direction, construction coordination, and regulation and standards review.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support a team of construction professionals through various technical tasks in a hybrid office/field environment.
- Utilize standard industry techniques and practices to solve minor problems.
- Maintain construction progress records as required.
- Review plans, specifications, RFIs, and submittals, to verify material requirements, both quantity and quality, along with general conformance.
- Conduct inspections and monitoring to help evaluate Environmental, Health & Safety performance, identify corrective actions, and confirm compliance with contract, regulatory, project, and Brightline West requirements.
- Help develop and implement safety and health communication and awareness measures involving training presentations, flyers, posters, signage, and other communication and training media.
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), with AutoCad and/or BlueBeam preferred.
- Completed at least two years of undergraduate studies within Engineering or Construction Management.
- Familiar with construction operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating, and field activities.
- Adaptable and able to work outdoors in a field environment under various weather conditions.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives.
INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE
- This is a paid internship, with work performed in Las Vegas, Nevada.
- Students are responsible for all arrangements of housing and travel.
- Students are expected to work a full-time schedule throughout the course of our Summer Internship Program and must be available to participate for the entirety of the Summer Internship Program, running June 2nd - August 1st.
- Students must be authorized to work in the United States.
