After Brightline Florida completed the first passenger rail system connecting Miami and Orlando, Brightline West was formed to connect Las Vegas and Southern California through the nation’s first true high-speed, electric passenger rail system. Reaching speeds of more than 186 miles per hour, this 218-mile high-speed rail service will take passengers from Las Vegas to the Greater Los Angeles area twice as fast as the normal drive time.

SUMMARY
For Brightline West’s 2025 Summer Internship Program, we are looking for a Design Engineer Intern to support our Design and Engineer team in Las Vegas, NV. This individual will support senior team members with planning and engineering support of the rail infrastructure.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn about the design and planning of high-speed rail infrastructure.
- Learn how to review engineering drawings and be able to decipher various disciplines in 3-dimension.
- Monitor/review weekly and monthly consultant meetings to understand the design development process.
- May join other team members at meetings with project teams on technical topics.
- Learn how different design disciplines interact with each other.
- Complete engineering projects assigned by senior staff related to rail infrastructure, track, highway, track systems and electrification, and utilities.
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), with Autocad, MicroStation/Bentley software, and/or BlueBeam preferred.
- Demonstrate expanding knowledge of transportation engineering.
- Possess good self-organizational and management skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE
- This is a paid internship, with work performed in Las Vegas, Nevada.
- Students are responsible for all arrangements of housing and travel.
- Students are expected to work a full-time schedule throughout the course of our Summer Internship Program and must be available to participate for the entirety of the Summer Internship Program, running June 2nd - August 1st.
- Students must be authorized to work in the United States.
