Winterization Technician
The position reports to the Engineering Manager of Brightmark Plastics in Ashley Indiana Plant.
Description
The Winterization Technician will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and management of winterization activities within our refinery to ensure optimal performance during the colder months. This role will require a deep understanding of refinery operations and equipment maintenance, as well as an intermediate level of understanding of heat transfer, heating equipment, and the thermodynamics of chemical processes. The technician will be expected to drive program execution and collaborate with various teams to ensure winter readiness.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Executes Brightmark core values and vision.
- Creates and maintains a safe work environment.
- Develop and execute the site’s winterization program to ensure safe and reliable year-round operation of the process
- Work closely with operations areas which require improvement or attention
- Provide a mechanism for tracking and addressing winterization related issues which arise throughout the year
- Develop winterization checklists for each area and work with the area teams to complete them each season
- Submit capital project requests, with justification, and write maintenance work orders as needed to address identified needs
- Train employees on the importance of winterization and engage them in supporting the site’s winterization program
- Work with engineers, maintenance, and equipment vendors to identify and implement equipment-specific winterization needs
- Work with the Procurement team to ensure an adequate supply of spare parts and materials so that the site can timely respond to winterization needs
- Work with capital project teams to build winterization needs into the design of new equipment
- Update drawings to reflect winterization-related field changes with piping, tracing, and insulation
- Network with industry peers and experts to identify and implement best practives in the area of winterization.
- Manage thermal assessment program to determine the needs for adequate hear or insulation; also identify other thermal issues
- Support Plant Operations to minimize production impacts and enhance reliability.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and professionalism while working as a member of a team
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Technical requirements:
A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
3-5 years in a refinery or petrochemical plant with relevant operations, maintenance and/or technical experience preferred.
Associate degree in related field (Science or Technology) preferred
