Job Description
The Capital Delivery Engineering Leader is responsible for the effective and efficient use of Roofing capital resources and for defining/executing capital investment projects in our manufacturing facilities. The successful candidate must manage projects by guiding process owners, plant leaders and manufacturing staff, process engineers, product managers, and capital sourcing through the project schedule to perform on time and on budget.
This position entails project and technical leadership for all facets of mechanical equipment definition, design, and implementation for Roofing’s infrastructure and process equipment throughout the United States. The process equipment in question is used to take a continuous web of fiber glass may and convert this web into shingles using other raw materials and conversion equipment.
The Project Leader will align with organizational goals of zero injuries, perfect quality systems and a waste free environment and will also assist in creating reliability systems.

Responsibilities
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Living the Safety stand and adhering to the safety responsibilities.
- Develop project scopes with plant input, including maintenance and operations employees.
- Effectively leads capital projects from concept to completion with zero injuries and within time and budget expectations, so that the maximum benefit is achieved with company resources.
- Support multi-plant network with troubleshooting, design, maintenance, and loss prevention assistance.
- Lead multiple projects simultaneously through networking with engineering firms; run projects as project manager, as well as organizing project managers.
- Develop capital approval requests as necessary; ensure the requested funding is consistent with all project requirements so that approved amount is not exceeded.
- Structural design and analysis of civil works structures (support and trusses, framing, water distribution/drainage, building modifications, etc.) for project implementation.
- Review plans for industrial developments on capital improvement projects and plant infrastructure projects for compliance with city codes and standards, contract specifications, and state regulations.
- Able to analyze systems, research options, and determine the most optimum cost/benefit relationship to deliver capital projects.
- Evaluation of existing structures for construction loads on new capital projects and/or demolition planning purposes.
- Identify current infrastructures risks and assist with risk mitigation through project charters or design improvements.
- Engage in process start –up operation, problem solving skills, active listening, and process improvement.
KNOWING OUR CUSTOMERS
- Reaches mutually beneficial agreement with all supported operating departments on required capacity specifications, in terms of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) or similar metric that measures capacity losses related to quality, availability, and performance
- Identifies, understands, and teaches others capital delivery procedures required to provide our manufacturing sites with reliable and productive equipment/machinery
- Develops and implements procedures and systems to ensure equipment consistently meets or exceeds design expectations
- Supports the Shingles and Asphalt sites to ensure they meet our customer’s needs
SUPPORTING CAPTIAL PROJECTS & MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS
- Analyzes machine and process data, providing feedback and making recommendations to optimize performance; ensures effective use and integration of information & new technologies
- Networks with other engineers, site employees, Science &Technology, and other relevant groups to identify and implement best practices for continuous improvement of plant performance metrics
- Documents Maintenance Deliverables for capital projects
- Enforces a comprehensive Engineering Management of Change (MOC) process
- Aids in the development and implementation of the plant capital plan
JOB REQUIREM EN TS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Civil or Structural Engineering preferred or applicable Engineering background
- Previous plant or manufacturing experience
- 5 years’ experience in Engineering, Manufacturing or Civil or Structural Engineering preferred
- 5 years in project management; small to large $1MM to $5MM total project cost
- Lean certification and/or Six Sigma Belt experience preferred
- Experience with or use of Auto Cad Design Software, Solid works Software, and other related design packages preferred
- Travel 40%
LOCATION & TRAVEL
- Within 30 miles of one of our Roofing Facilities, or 50 miles from a major U.S. airport hub.
- This position requires 40-45% travel, and with previous travel experience.

- Ability to adapt in various working environments(development laboratory or manufacturing plant floor for equipment start-up and commissioning)
- Lead, collaborate and influence across teams as projects scopes change and be able to control the project deliverables through commissioning/start-up.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on structural engineering process improvements
- Responsibilities will include detailed structural engineering for new construction, expansion projects, repairs, and rebuilds.
- Provide expertise and structural analysis of civil work structures.
- Broad range of experience in industrial hardware (pumps, motors, conveyors, process equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.)
- Experience with building types that include steel, concrete, wood, roofing and building envelopes.
- General understanding of all applicable electrical codes.
- Basic knowledge in mechanical and chemical processes
- Development of specifications for procurement and structural designs
- Development of cost estimates for engineering and capital delivery
- Supervision of mechanical / electrical designers in the development of designs for process equipment: Hardware selection, drawings, layouts, and interface diagrams
- Experience in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), equipment checkout, debugging, commissioning, and start up activities of process equipment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and/or projects at one time
