Overview
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to efficiently move products and materials within our warehouse or distribution center. This role is crucial in ensuring that operations run smoothly and safely while maintaining high standards of productivity.
Duties
- Operate forklifts, cherry pickers, and order pickers to transport materials and products throughout the warehouse.
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper handling of goods to prevent damage.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory movements and maintain accurate records.
- Perform heavy lifting as required, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure safe operation and report any maintenance needs.
- Follow OSHA regulations and company policies regarding safety practices in the workplace.
- Assist with materials handling tasks, including organizing inventory and preparing orders for shipment.
- Collaborate with team members to build efficient workflows within the distribution center.
Skills
- Proficient in operating various types of forklifts, including RF scanners for inventory management.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations and materials handling techniques.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards related to forklift operation and warehouse safety.
- Experience with order picking processes and familiarity with distribution center environments.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
