Job Description: As a Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing detailed estimates, and collaborating with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure the timely and successful completion of construction projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Bid Preparation:
- Prepare comprehensive bid proposals, ensuring that all aspects of the project are covered and that cost estimates align with project goals.
- Cost Estimation and Preconstruction:
- Prepare
- Interface directly with clients, architects, engineers, as required.
- Perform preliminary site inspections.
- Define and develop scopes of work.
- Develop and maintain bid list and relationships with local subcontractors.
- Obtain bids from subcontractors.
- Negotiate with subcontractors and vendors.
- Assist with construction timelines and scheduling parameters.
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive conceptual budgets and job cost proposals.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Develop quantity take-offs, unit prices, and labor costs.
- Calculate the costs for various construction components, including foundation, structural work, and finishing.
- Maintain accurate records of all estimates, including detailed reports for future reference and auditing purposes.
- Suggest cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
- Evaluate alternatives for materials, equipment, and construction methods that could lower costs.
- Prepare client bid packages
- Project Analysis:
- Review and assess bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring that estimates are competitive and accurate.
- Assess potential project risks, including unforeseen costs, material shortages, or changes in scope.
- Conduct site visits to gather information and assess project requirements.
- Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure estimates meet project specifications and budgets.
- Track and document changes in project scope and adjust estimates accordingly.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a construction estimator or in a similar role (3 years preferred).
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and labor requirements.
- Proficient in estimating software.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
