Job Description
A preventative maintenance specialist is responsible for performing routine maintenance on production equipment to ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of these assets. This role involves a combination of mechanical, electrical, and technical skills.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance according to an established calendar to prevent equipment breakdowns and minimize downtime.
- Work Order Management: Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to create work orders, track progress, and record parts used.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Identify and resolve issues with processing equipment using electrical and mechanical skills.
- Production Support: Respond quickly to production calls for corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance to ensure continuous operation.
- Inventory Management: Accurately report all parts used in the CMMS to maintain accurate inventory levels.
Position Requirements
- Experience: Two years or more related experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Forklift Operation: Must be able to obtain certification.
- Mechanical and Electrical Skills: Excellent knowledge and skills in mechanics, basic electrical principles, and troubleshooting.
- Electrical Knowledge: Understand basic principles of electrical troubleshooting and industrial electricity (110v, 220v, 480v three phase).
- Fabrication and Welding: Proficient in fabrication and welding techniques, including stainless steel and aluminum.
- Computer Literacy: Basic computer knowledge and skills.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Attendance and Adaptability: Punctual attendance, flexibility to work various shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
Ability to lift and carry heavy items up to 60 lbs. Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
