Job Description
The Mold Maker A role involves the construction, repair, and maintenance of injection molds, assembly machines, and fixtures crucial for product production. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the efficiency and quality of manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Construct, modify, and repair a diverse range of assembly equipment, mold components, fixtures, and gauges with meticulous attention to detail and precision.
- Develop prototypes as needed, utilizing various references such as models and drawings.
- Uphold stringent quality control standards through adherence to design specifications and meticulous inspection processes.
- Utilize a variety of measuring tools and equipment, including gauges, calipers, and templates, as necessary.
- Provide accurate estimations for mold fabrication and repair timelines when required.
- Effectively communicate any issues or challenges to relevant team members.
- Offer guidance and direction to tool room associates
- Actively participate in Project Teams and Cross Functional Teams as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Technical degree or certification in tooling (AND) 8 or more years of injection mold fabrication experience (OR) an equivalent combination of skills and experience.
- Proficiency in interpreting article drawings or models and translating them into simple injection mold designs.
- Capability to independently fabricate components based on detailed drawings or models.
- Ability to suggest design modifications to optimize the performance and longevity of injection molds.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for design and manufacturing processes.
- Aptitude for mentoring and training Mold Maker B’s & C’s, fostering a collaborative and skilled workforce.
- Familiarity with computer systems, CNC, EDM, CAM (such as Mastercam), conventional machinery, and safety protocols.
- Physical capability to lift and transport objects weighing up to 70 lbs. regularly, with or without accommodation.
- Ability to sustain prolonged periods of standing or sitting, along with engaging in repetitive movements such as reaching, stretching, lifting, and twisting.
