Plant Manager

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Area Plant Director, the Plant Operations Manager is responsible for the overall management and performance of the MWRA Facility. This role involves leadership in safety, environmental compliance, operations, and maintenance, as well as full P&L responsibility. The position requires fostering strong relationships with both the internal team and external stakeholders, ensuring plant performance meets all contractual and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safety & Compliance: Lead a culture of safety, ensuring zero tolerance for unsafe conditions and compliance with all environmental and regulatory standards.
• Leadership & Team Management: Empower and hold the team accountable for plant goals. Build strong, trust-based relationships with the team, the Authority, and senior leadership.
• Operations & Maintenance: Oversee all aspects of plant operations, ensuring compliance with contracts and permits. Manage preventative and corrective maintenance and capital repair plans to minimize downtime.
• Performance & Financial Management: Lead the achievement of annual operational and P&L goals. Instill a culture of continuous improvement and lead lean initiatives. Manage capital budgets and oversee plant troubleshooting and engineering support.
• Reporting & Data Management: Ensure accurate reporting in CMMS, financial systems, and operational metrics.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong leadership, business, and financial acumen.
• 10 years of relevant plant experience, with 5 years in a leadership role.
• BS in Engineering or related field preferred. MA Grade IV Municipal wastewater operator’s license and Six Sigma/Lean certification a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, CMMS, and enterprise financial systems (FIIX, NetSuite preferred).
• Ability to manage time, set priorities, and make decisions under pressure.

Direct Reports: Operations Manager, Assistant Plant Manager, Office Manager, and 22 indirect reports.
