Position Justification:
The Procurement/Supply Chain Manager implements protocols, procedures, and strategies that make the supply operations of a business efficient. They acquire materials, equipment, and other resources, and determine quotas. The primary goal of a Procurement/Supply Chain Manager is to ensure a company’s supply chain operations are speedy, and that there’s no gap or lag in fulfilling orders and client requests.
This is a multi-site role. Candidate must be willing to work at either the Lisbon, OH facility OR the Sherburne, NY facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct or coordinate production, purchasing, warehousing, distribution, or financial forecasting services or activities to limit costs and improve accuracy, customer service, or safety.
- Examine existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities to meet product distribution needs.
- Direct the movement, storage, or processing of inventory.
- Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, controlling inventory, warehousing, or receiving.
- Select transportation routes to maximize economy by combining shipments or consolidating warehousing and distribution.
- Define KPI’s for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality.
- Implement new or improved supply chain processes to improve efficiency or performance.
- Develop procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, production, or quality assurance.
- Work with the management team to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products.
- Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, or freight forwarders.
- Analyze information about supplier performance or procurement program success.
- Monitor suppliers’ activities to assess performance in meeting quality or delivery requirements.
- Design or implement supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies.
- Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes or predict effects of supply chain activities.
- Identify or qualify new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
- Develop or implement procedures or systems to evaluate or select suppliers.
- Document physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, or system flows.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential for Success:
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, process engineering, logistics, or a related discipline and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience and Skills Requirements:
- 5 or more years of leadership experience in procurement or supply chain field and working in a cross-functional business environment.
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) certification is a plus.
- Self-starter with excellent communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills specifically in relation to working with multinational cultures.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time.

- Previous cross-functional experience working between multiple departments.

- Experience working in pet food, extrusion, or food manufacturing facility a plus.

Work Environment:
Professional office and manufacturing environment. Performance of this position will occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where, in certain areas, the use of personal protection equipment such as to follow Food Safety procedures will be required. Floors may be wet and slippery when in the manufacturing area and you will be exposed to temperatures around 40 degrees when on the manufacturing floor. Primary office environment is ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
