The Democratic Governors Association (DGA), the campaign committee responsible for electing and supporting Democratic Governors, is seeking a Deputy Communications Director for the 2025-2026 cycle . The Deputy Communications Director is responsible for helping promote the important work of the DGA and Democratic governors, along with the stakes of the 38 governors’ races over the next two years. That includes creating forward-looking and strategic media plans and helping lead and manage press staff to execute them, along with creating new opportunities for the DGA to share its message, planning press briefings and calls, booking DGA staff and governors for national media and managing media at events. The role is also responsible for building and managing programs to share messaging guidance and updates with allies and key stakeholders.
As a member of the Communications Team, the Deputy Communications Director reports directly to the Communications Director and closely collaborates with other members of the Communications Staff to meet the DGA’s ambitious Communications goals for the cycle.

Primary Responsibilities
- Develop communications plans and create new opportunities focused on highlighting governors’ top priorities and key wins;
- Plan press briefings and calls, book DGA staff and governors for national media and manage media at events;
- Coordinate directly with governors’ offices to help promote their top priorities;
- Organize press events, draft media pitches, reporter backgrounders, press releases, op-eds, social media content, and other materials as needed;
- Work with other departments to efficiently use the time of governors and identify opportunities for storytelling about the DGA’s important work;
- Travel may be required to achieve goals and perform regular responsibilities;
- Manage other special projects, assignments, and tasks as assigned by the Communications Director.
