Job Description
Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia's 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. Brightpoint Community College is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Manager of Client Services. The incumbent will manage a team responsible for supporting the help desk, desktop systems, computer labs, and all end-point computing devices. This will include preventive maintenance, emergency repair, and technical assistance to ensure smooth operations across all campus locations. This role involves coordinating the setup, configuration, and testing of hardware and software, and providing multimedia support for educational purposes; Provides preventive maintenance and emergency repair of microcomputer hardware / peripherals and software for IT managed administrative, faculty, staff and lab computers located at all campus locations; Manages coverage and schedules of technical support technicians; Responsible for installing, repairing, and servicing multiple vendor microcomputers and peripherals; Manages the configuration, delivery, sets up, and testing of microcomputer hardware and installation of operating systems and software packages at all locations. Provide technical assistance to end users; Provides senior troubleshooting for network, telecommunications, desktop and multimedia hardware; Provides project management and ensures completion through contacts with staff, faculty vendors, and facilitators; Assists in planning replacement of equipment and scheduling the replacement between IT and other stakeholders.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's / Required Qualifications
Strong leadership and management skills to supervise IT support staff effectively. Comprehensive knowledge of computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment. Ability to coordinate IT support across multiple college locations. Proficiency in network and telecommunication systems. Expertise in supporting multimedia equipment in an educational setting. Excellent communication skills for interaction with faculty, staff, and students. Ability to manage time effectively and organize work. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends. Communicate effectively orally and in writing with technical and non-technical personnel and provide quality customer service. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends to educate users. Ability to move computers, work on ladders, and work in small, enclosed areas. Ability to provide own transportation to travel between campus locations. Valid driver's license. Must pass a background check. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes evenings and weekends.
Additional Considerations
Experience in managing and leading a technical support team. Substantial experience in modifying, installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing microcomputer hardware and peripherals; Must have Windows operating system experience, IOS experience, experience in networking and telecommunications; knowledge of multimedia in an educational environment, Microsoft Office software applications, and Office365.
