Summary.
This is a management position responsible for (1) overseeing the safe transport of children; (2) preparation of school bus routes, schedules, and substitutions; (3) ensuring the maintenance of company school vehicles. This position requires a cooperative approach with internal personnel, academy personnel, and agency regulators.
Job Responsibilities.
· Assigns school bus drivers, substitute drivers and vehicles for regular and extracurricular routes.
· Incorporates a plan for school bus routes and post-route schedules.
· Assists in coordinating special needs routes and maintains route logs.
· Creates summer route schedules.
· Enters and maintains route schedule information and fuel usage data.
· Dispatch school bus drivers and school vehicles.
· Notify drivers and academy staff of applicable changes in a student’s bus service time, location and/or schedule.
· Serves as an escalation point with families, students, and academy personnel.
· Creates, implements, and maintains driver’s inspection reports to include pre-trip, post-trip, count-sheets, cleanliness, daily logs, inspections, repairs, and vehicle safety.
· Record any school bus or vehicle defects; recommend adequate safety plan.
· Supervises, trains, and provides regulated safety awareness of school bus drivers and substitute drivers.
· Ensures a timely pick-up schedule.
· Maintains contact with academy personnel in the event of inclement weather and emergency closing dismissals.
· Ensure all drivers are abiding and following all state, local and federal traffic laws.
· May perform the functions of a school bus or school van driver as needed or necessary.

Education/Experience.
High school diploma or accredited degree with a minimum of three years school bus driving experience or similar is qualifying. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid CDL class B license with endorsements of (P) Passenger, (S) School Bus, and Airbrakes, advance communication, and customer service skills with knowledge of MS Office.
