Full Time Overnight Mental Health Caregiver for Disabled Adult Woman

Seeking a caregiver for an adult female client in Redondo Beach with spinal cord injury/ paralysis, traumatic brain injury, PTSD and Dissociative Disorder. Looking to hire for 3 overnight shifts (12 hours per shift/ 36 hours/ week).

Shifts Available:

• Three 12-hour overnight shifts/ week: Friday - Saturday - Sunday, 9pm - 9am;
• Weekends daytime shift / Sat and SUN 9am-9pm
• Position(s) open immediately.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Assisting client with activities of daily living (ADLs): preparing meals, showering, transferring to/from wheelchair, colostomy assistance, light housekeeping, and assisting with pet care (cat);
• Providing companionship throughout the night (requires staying awake with client);
• Reminders of medications (including scheduled meds and PRNs);
• Supporting client’s mental health symptoms, crises and episodes of distress;
• Learning and avoiding triggers, interrupting self-harming behaviors as needed;
• Collaborating with other caregivers, client’s therapist and other team members;
• Documentation;
• Other tasks as needed and assigned.

Requirements for the Caregiver Position:

• Reminders of medications (including scheduled meds and PRNs);
• Caregiver, CNA, Licensed Psychiatric Technician, LVN or equivalent training/ experience with patients with mental health diagnoses strongly preferred;
• Training, experience and comfort working with mental health patients, including PTSD, Dissociative Disorders and/or Traumatic Brain Injury strongly preferred;
• Patient, warm, authentic and caring temperament is a MUST;
• Must be able to defuse conflicts and crises without engaging in power struggles;
• Must have strong verbal communication skills;
• Must have a valid CA driver’s license.
• Must be organized, reliable and consistent, and have good time management skills;
• Must be personable, honest, patient, authentic, warm and caring.

Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.
