The RN Clinical Supervisor partners with the Regional Branch Manager to oversee the skilled specialty services for our medically complex patients across five territories in the Kansas City Metro area. The primary focus of the RN Clinical Supervisor is managing skilled pediatric patients, work comp patients, IVIG (infusion) patients, and other medically complex cases.
The RN Clinical Supervisor will manage a caseload of clinical patients, which includes conducting initial assessments, reassessments, updating orders, and administering medications per Physician orders. Responsibilities also involve auditing clinical records, performing client and employee supervisory visits, training existing staff, and mentoring or competency checking new employees on medication knowledge and clinical skills.
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess strong IV skills, must be skilled at performing venipuncture, have knowledge of IV medications, fluids, and blood products, and be aware of infection control precautions. Candidates must feel comfortable working in a home environment, be able to work autonomously, and be confident in training new nurses. Additionally, excellent communication, electronic documentation, and time management skills are essential. Candidates must be comfortable working with patients of all age ranges, from pediatric to geriatric.
**Compensation:**
- Salaried position: $85,000 - $90,000 annual salary with opportunities for quarterly bonuses
- Availability required during the hours of 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends as needed to ensure continuity of patient care
- Paid mileage and phone stipend
**Responsibilities:**
- Provide professional insights on medically complex cases and support assigned nursing staff
- Insert, maintain, and dress intravenous (IV) lines, venous access ports, and other types of lines
- Administer fluids and medications through IV lines, central lines, or venous access ports. They ensure patients receive the correct IV and dosage.
- Monitor patients during treatment to ensure the IV is working properly and to watch for complications. They check the IV site for swelling, redness, and warmth, and make sure the IV is flowing freely
- Develop treatment plans for physician signature and regularly update them according to state regulations, or more frequently if there are changes in orders
- Provide care within the scope defined by the state’s Nurse Practice Act
- Follow all processes and policies as established by the state and the Joint Commission
- Initiate appropriate preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures
- Prepare clinical notes and progress summaries of care
- Ensure compliance of all clinical records
- Inform the Director of Operations, Regional Branch Manager, physicians, and other personnel about changes in the client’s condition and needs
- Counsel clients and families to meet nursing and related needs
- Supervise, educate, and coach nursing personnel as directed by the Regional Branch Manager
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws - Identify and participate in agency performance improvement activities
- Stay informed about changes in the nursing and home health care fields and share relevant information with organizational personnel
- Promote home health referrals within the health care community
- Participate in an on-call rotation
Requirements:
- Current unrestricted RN license in KS and MO
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Must have graduated from a National League of Nursing accredited program
- Minimum one (1) year of documented nursing experience required. Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical experience with one (1) year experience in a home health agency completing in-home infusions, preferred.
