Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team and oversee the delivery of exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nursing administration, with a focus on acute care and home care settings. Duties

  • Provide leadership and direction for nursing staff, ensuring adherence to best practices in patient care.
  • Supervise daily operations of the nursing department, including shift management and staffing assignments.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance the quality of care provided to patients.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans and improve overall health outcomes.
  • Conduct regular assessments of nursing practices, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to nursing administration and patient safety.
  • Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for nursing staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and staff to ensure a supportive healthcare environment.

In addition to the clinical and managerial responsibilities, a Director of Nursing (DON) in a home healthcare agency may also be involved in:

  • Marketing: Developing and implementing marketing strategies to promote the agency's services and attract clients. This could involve creating educational materials, participating in community events, or collaborating with referral sources like hospitals and physicians.
  • Critical Thinking: Analyzing complex patient care situations and making informed decisions to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. This might involve assessing new patient referrals, determining appropriate care plans, or resolving clinical issues.
  • Problem Solving: Addressing operational challenges and resolving issues that arise in patient care, staffing, or compliance. This could include troubleshooting clinical procedures, resolving conflicts within the team, or adapting care plans to meet changing patient needs.
  • Sales: Engaging with potential clients and their families to explain services, address concerns, and convert inquiries into admissions. This aspect involves understanding client needs, presenting solutions effectively, and building trust to secure new business.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required.

  • Strong understanding of nursing administration principles and home care services.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
