Job Summary
The materials planner position manages inventory through the IFS database and maintain physical level of parts as required on a daily basis to meet Customer demands. More specifically, this position will verify accurate receipt and allocation of incoming inventory. Process documents pertaining to inventory transactions, movement and allocation of stock to various jobs. Assist with issuing purchase orders as well as reconciling purchase orders and shippers for accurate receiving records. Perform cycle count assessments and physical inventories as required.
Responsibility
- Ensures controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
- Minimizes exposure for the organization to any financial risks associated with inventory management such as excessive inventory carrying costs.
- Analyzes the demand and capacity to determine out-of-balance conditions; identifies alternatives and recommends actions to bring demand and capacity back in balance.
- Works effectively with both management and hourly staff to support implementation of inventory control processes and to ensure processes are documented and standardized.
- Identifies and implements ways to streamline and improve efficiency.
- Corresponds with outside representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
- Contacts carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
- Responsible for order tracking in the IFS system.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Academic / Educational Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management; and / or five or more years’ experience in inventory control and / or supply chain management.
Required Skills / Experience Strong organizational skills to adjust to changing product and work-flow requirements. Strong analytical and advanced problem-solving skills using structured methods Experience in parts order, cycle counting, inventory control, short shipments and working with vendors. Proficient in inventory management and forecasting, through knowledge of all tools, processes, methodologies, and standards. Logical thinking to analyze reports, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Must possess advanced computer skills to retrieve, manipulate, analyze, and interpret large amounts of data. A high level of oral and written communication skills. Working Conditions 40 hours per week In office, Production area as required. Monday to Friday Please note : All schedules and changes to working hours must be approved by the department manager. Schedule is subject to change based on discretion of department manager.
