Job Summary- (3rd Shift)
3rd shift- 10:00 PM- 6:30 AM
Prepare and change perishable tools and tooling components required by production and maintain pre-set line inventory.
Responsibility
- Assist with inventory control and replenishment for tooling and miscellaneous items
- Set-up and repair cutting tools for production through the use of set-up sheets and tooling drawings.
- Select and repair fixture cutting tool package for machine set-up requested by production.
- Assist with tracking results from tool trials.
- Work closely with Engineering on tooling trials and tracking of result
- Perform cutting tool maintenance and simple repair.
- Update inventory kept in tool-crib, and perform tool crib attendant duties
- Reports fluctuations in tool usage
- Recommend types styles and grades of inserts used.
- Distribution of materials in the central store.
- Data entry and generating basic reports.
Academic/Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Required Skills/Experience
Total the amounts of materials needed or the number of holes to drill, according to the specifications. May measure pieces to verify that the size meets the specifications.
Capable of reading drawings and using measuring instruments in a high tolerance environment. Read computer-generated profile views of a piece being made in order to adjust the tooling appropriately. Interpret blueprints showing where the holes are to be placed in a piece of steel.
Interacts with supervisors to take direction on job assignments, to seek clarification on unclear drawings or job instructions and to seek help when problems arise. Interact with co-workers, including mechanics, welders and machinists, to exchange tips about methods and procedures, to relay new information and safety precautions, to receive instructions or to instruct others how to perform new jobs.
Basic knowledge of metal cutting tools and experience as a machine tool operator would be an asset. Decide when to reset a machine if it is not cutting within tolerance levels, and how to adjust or to change machine settings to improve the quality of pieces. Decide how to set pieces up when making irregularly shaped pieces. Decide how much material is needed to make parts.
Ability to work independently. When needed, be a part of a team which includes mechanics, welders, machinists, fellow operators and management to co-ordinate efforts to ensure that machines are used efficiently and work priorities are well managed.
Basic understanding of machine controls. Use a computer to confirm measurements or adjust computer control (CNC) machinery, such as the Maho machine, which is used to cut metal to specifications.
Ability to learn new specifications and procedures through on-the-job training and experience. Receive training in first aid and the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
Working Conditions
40 hours per week
In office, Production area as required.
Monday to Friday
