Job Summary:
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated systems and control devices in the oil and gas industry. This role requires in-depth knowledge of instrumentation, control systems, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems used in the exploration, production, and transportation of oil and gas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical, mechanical, and software systems with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation and Maintenance:
• Install, configure, and commission automated systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), RTUs (Remote Terminal Units), and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot control systems, instrumentation, and communication networks to ensure continuous operation.
2. Troubleshooting and Repair:
• Diagnose and resolve issues with automation equipment and control systems, minimizing downtime.
• Perform routine and emergency maintenance on automation systems, sensors, and related equipment.
• Work closely with engineering and production teams to identify and implement solutions to automation challenges.
3. System Optimization:
• Monitor and analyze system performance data to identify areas for improvement.
• Implement upgrades and modifications to enhance system efficiency, reliability, and safety.
• Participate in the development of automation strategies for new and existing facilities.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, system configurations, and modifications.
• Prepare detailed reports on system performance, downtime incidents, and maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
5. Safety and Compliance:
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures when working with hazardous materials and in potentially dangerous environments.
• Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments to ensure all systems meet safety and environmental regulations.
• Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and emergency response drills.
6. Technical Support:
• Provide technical support to operations and engineering teams, both remotely and on-site.
• Train and mentor junior technicians and other personnel on automation systems and best practices.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in automation or controls systems within the oil and gas industry.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and SCADA systems.
• Strong understanding of instrumentation, control systems, and electrical circuits.
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as Modbus, HART, and Ethernet/IP.
• Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., API, ISA, NEC) and safety regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and remote locations.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work on-call and respond to emergency situations as needed.
