Job Overview:
We are seeking a Sr. Network Engineer / Architect to develop and maintain high-level and low-level network design plans for our State Client in Washington, DC. The selected candidate will provide technical solutions, consulting, and strategic decision-making while ensuring the organization's network capacity, stability, security, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning:
Design and implement short- and long-term network strategies to meet business needs.
Develop policies, procedures, and training plans for network resource administration.
Conduct research on emerging network technologies to improve cost-effectiveness and scalability.
Maintain network documentation, compliance standards, and security best practices.
Acquisition & Deployment:
Plan, acquire, and manage network infrastructure, security, and connectivity.
Oversee the installation, configuration, and upgrade of network equipment.
Manage LANs, WANs, VPNs, virtual networks, wireless networks, and security solutions.
Ensure network architecture compliance with standards and best practices.
Operational Management:
Ensure smooth and reliable network operations to support business objectives.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network performance using advanced tools.
Manage security solutions, firewalls, and IT infrastructure components.
Provide network capacity planning and security assessments.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor s or Master s in IT/Computer Science OR 15 years of equivalent experience.
Cisco Certification (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CCDE) - REQUIRED.
10 years of hands-on experience in:
- Network architecture, design, and implementation (LANs, WANs, VPNs, WLANs, virtual networks).
- Enterprise-wide network security, routers, switches, firewalls, and security software.
- IT security, risk management, and compliance (ITIL, Lean IT, data privacy laws).
- Developing strategic network plans and ensuring SLA compliance.
