Senior IT Project Manager
Job Summary
The Senior IT Project Manager plays a key role within the regional IT team, overseeing the successful delivery of diverse projects and programs across the region. This individual will be instrumental in establishing a Program Management Office (PMO) and providing guidance to technical leads on project management methodologies and best practices.
Acting as a leader on various solution delivery teams, this position involves taking ideas from initial concept through planning, approvals, and execution, ensuring alignment with the broader project roadmap.

This is a remote position, and the successful candidate must be able to manage responsibilities effectively in a virtual environment. Periodic travel to North American locations may be required.
Beyond managing individual projects and programs, the Senior IT Project Manager will spearhead the development of a fully operational PMO for North America. The role also involves maintaining project metrics, conducting reviews, and sharing insights through management dashboards.
As a key member of the North America IT leadership team, this individual will contribute to advancing and strengthening IT operations across the region. Collaboration with European counterparts will also be a critical aspect, ensuring consistency with global best practices.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee project delivery across all phases, including initiation, planning, design, development, testing, deployment, and closure.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with scope, taking ownership of financial management.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
- Monitor project budgets and provide financial analysis to track spend.
- Identify and manage risks, reporting progress and issues through established governance structures (e.g., steering committees).
- Assemble and manage cross-functional project teams, ensuring the right mix of technical and business resources.
- Ensure functional and technical requirements are well-documented and aligned with business needs.
- Coordinate with external vendors, overseeing their contributions to project deliverables.
- Maintain quality control over project outputs and deliverables throughout the lifecycle.
- Partner with release managers to oversee the transition of changes into production environments.
- Collaborate with business leaders to plan communication strategies and user training related to project outcomes.
- Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate project implementations.
- Ensure a seamless handover of completed projects to service operations or local IT teams.
- Mentor team members, providing guidance and skill development opportunities.
- Support smaller project initiatives by mentoring technical leads and sharing expertise in project management processes.
- Lead IT transformation efforts, including optimizing IT landscapes and introducing new sourcing strategies.
- Foster collaboration between U.S.-based sites and global teams.
- Drive the establishment of a Program Management Office for North America, including processes, tools, and reporting structures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, business, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- PMP certification or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience managing large-scale, complex projects with budgets of $3–$5 million or more, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong expertise in managing vendor relationships and service providers.
- Ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Proven ability to engage business leaders, gather requirements, and manage demand.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with experience mentoring and coaching team members.
- Experience in setting up and running a PMO, including establishing processes and metrics.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Willingness to travel domestically within North America.
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with tools like Teams, SharePoint, Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrated ability to develop dashboards and performance metrics for project oversight.
