Role: Senior Network Engineer (F5 Load Balancing)
Location: Plano, TX (onsite)
As a consultant within the DI team, you will work with our clients to define their digital strategy and execution roadmap, and design and implement differentiated digital solutions to help deliver measurable value.
Job Description:
Candidate responsible for overseeing the overall design and health of the Load Balancer environment, mentoring junior engineers, reviewing all F5 implementation plans, managing installation projects, and resolving complex production issues. This role will perform design, implementation, and maintenance of load balancer/application delivery controller infrastructure using F5 Big-IP LTM/APM/ Load Balancers.
• Good knowledge of Network concepts and F5 Load balancers
• Configure and support application security policies via the F5 ASM and APM security modules.
• Updates patches and proactively monitors for any security vulnerability that may impact the F5 Appliance or the application.
• Excellent understanding of LTM configuration (VIPs, Persistence, SNAT, SSL, etc.).
• Experience writing and troubleshooting iRules.
• Define authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) policies on the Big IP F5.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting tools, such as: tcpdump, ssldump, openssl, logs, curl, Wireshark, Fiddler, Postman.
• Knowledge of http protocol versions, headers, methods, and status codes.
• Ability to read packet captures for troubleshooting of data traffic flow.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to identify root causes of issues and provide solutions.
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot network traffic from layer 1 through 7 with utilities including SSH, nslookup, tcpdump, ssldump, cURL, HTTP GET and Open SSL.
• Working knowledge on SSL certificates implementation.
• Knowledge of DNS configurations for both the Internet and Microsoft Active Directory.
• Fundamental knowledge of encryption to include HTTPS in a reverse and forward proxy environment.
• Experience with configuring PKI Certificate Authority (CA) trust bundles, Certificate Revocation List (CRL) and Online Certificate Revocation List (OCSP)
• Understanding of Middleware architecture and working knowledge of various middleware application server integration.
• Responsible for hardware and code upgrades according to F5 Recommendation.
• Design, develop and maintain test plans for functional, sustaining and compatibility testing of client-side functionality of F5 BIG-IP Access Policy Manager Product
• Research developments in assigned technology disciplines, determining business requirements, proposing changes, and developing migration and implementation plans as needed.
• Works closely with IT-security to make sure that the services that are running on the F5 BIG-IP platforms are meeting security compliance
• Responsible for evaluating current network systems.
• Team player, self-motivated, requiring minimal direction, solid work ethic
• Open to learning new technologies, forward and strategic thinking.
• Availability during evenings and weekends for P1 issues and scheduled change controls.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, both oral and written, with the ability to articulate and educate others about complex technology with business acumen.
