Role: Hardware Reliability Engineer

Job Summary:
- The Hardware Reliability Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our efforts in ensuring and improving the durability and reliability of new products. As part of a diverse team, you will collaborate with hardware engineering groups throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to field returns, helping to understand customer usage, identify high-risk failure modes, and determine the best mitigation strategies using advanced engineering knowledge. This role involves driving failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) to ensure robust design, developing and implementing innovative reliability tests for new hardware programs, quantifying reliability risks, and leading failure analysis to establish root causes and corrective actions.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing concise and detailed reliability test plans and reports with an emphasis on prioritizing tasks to meet challenging deadlines.
- Developing new reliability tests, procedures, and specifications.
- Analyzing experimental data to provide in-depth understanding of design features.
- Researching state-of-the-art technology to understand root causes of test failures. Providing design direction to multi-functional teams to improve product reliability.
Key Qualifications
- Deep understanding of mechanical assemblies and industry test standards (JEDEC, ASTM, IEEE).
- Experience in reliability testing, including mechanical stress tests (shock, drop, vibration), environmental, and fatigue testing.
- Proficient in failure analysis techniques such as optical microscopy, x-ray/CT scans, scanning electron microscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and energy dispersive spectroscopy.
- Proficiency with statistical tools and models, such as Weibull , JMP, and accelerated test models.
- Expertise in applying Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Digital Image Correlation (DIC).
- Extraordinary problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Confidence in navigating ambiguity and developing innovative approaches to challenges.

Education and Experience:
- B.S. or M.S Engineering degree
- 4 years of experience in a related field or industry
