Position Summary
The Assistant Controller will oversee corporate accounting functions and support all facets of financial management. This role is responsible for executing and supporting the month-end close process, preparing and analyzing financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements, and developing robust internal control policies and procedures.
Position Essential Functions
- Manage all aspects of the general ledger
- Assist with the management and supervision of all accounting operations, including billing, AR, and AP
- Support the execution of the month and year-end close
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
- Coordinate and assist with the preparation of consolidated financial statements
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance with GAAP
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Provide monthly, quarterly, and year-end analysis
- Serve as liaison to external auditors
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Controller
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 5 years of overall accounting and finance experience
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with financial statement preparation for all types of legal entities
- Experience with general ledger functions in the month-end/year-end close
- Experience in preparing and reviewing partnership, corporate, and payroll tax filings
- Experience with various accounting software, NetSuite experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
- CPA preferred
