We are seeking a Laboratory Driver to join our team in Ontario, CA, Monday-Friday. The Laboratory Driver will be collecting from our sites in Los Angeles. The Laboratory Driver will pick up specimen from our clients at their facility and return specimen to the main laboratory in Ontario, CA to accession.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for picking up medical specimens from various facilities and skilled nursing homes and delivering them to the laboratory in a timely manner.
Deliver and pick up medical specimens, supplies, and records within a specified time and route.
Ensure proper transport of items to and from laboratory to maintain specimen integrity.
Act as a liaison between the laboratory and clients while carrying out service functions.
Adhere to Brio Clinical company policies, including Vehicular Driver Safety Standards and applicable governmental motor vehicle operation laws and regulations.
Record information, such as items received and delivered and recipients’ responses to messages.
Perform weekly safety and operational checks on company vehicle(s) and report to supervisor.
Participate in special and STAT pick-ups when requested by client(s), as necessary.
Deliver all supplies, reports, and related materials to clients along route, as necessary.
Communicate issues and concerns to appropriate staff members.
Verify all specimens that come in are labeled appropriately and that they match the labels on the requisition to ensure that there are no issues with patient identification and reporting.
Introduce and prepare biological specimens to the laboratory to ensure accurate processing.
Open specimens and pour off into secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing.
Verify patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted.
Data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes.
Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results.
Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities when required.
Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
Resolve and document any problem specimens.
Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste.
Comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
Demonstrate organizational commitment and exhibit a positive image to clients, staff, and the general public.
Maintain contact with Client Service Manager and draw sites via cell phone.
Participate in and support all Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement endeavors for the laboratory, as necessary.
In addition to typical work schedule, may be scheduled to work weekends, work split shifts, overtime, holidays, and attend mandatory company meetings, as necessary.
Be required to perform other job duties, as necessary.
Meet applicable company insurance guidelines and release Department of Motor Vehicles driving records if required to drive or operate a company vehicle in the performance of their duties.
Engage in moderate to frequent computer work.
Engage in moderate to frequent use of telephone and fax.
Must take all assigned Human Resources trainings and classes.
Responsible for attending all department and staff meetings and trainings.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED
Previous experience in behavioral healthcare setting with knowledge of patient population served by the facility, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Record maintenance skills.
Comfortable handling human biological specimens including blood, urine, and tissue samples.
Strong hand eye coordination in order to accurately identify specimens by touch and sight.
High level of attention to detail with the ability to problem solve.
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
Ability to prepare and print routine correspondence, labels, and/or other basic written material.
Proficient in word processing and/or data entry skills.
Skill in the use of operating basic office equipment.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer.
Prolonged periods of sitting and driving a vehicle.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and work in protective equipment.
