The Payroll Specialist reports to the HR Manager and will assist with payroll functions to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s Human Resource department. The Payroll Specialist role requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in payroll systems, and a commitment to confidentiality. The Payroll Specialist will report to work in person at our office in Ontario, California.
Position Type: Full-Time
Shift: Saturday - Sunday 5:30am - 2pm & Monday - Wednesday 10am - 6:30pm
Rate of Pay: $21.00 per hour

Duties/Responsibilities:
· Assists with payroll functions including preparing timecards for processing, answering employee payroll-related inquires, fixing timecard errors, and distributing checks.
· Follows up with department manager to resolve employee timecard issues.
· Ensures employee timecard hours are accurately recorded in ADP and ready for HR Manager to process payroll.
· Addresses payroll inquiries and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner consistent with company policies and legal requirements.
· Assists with audits and provides payroll data and reports as required.
· Ensures compliance with company policies, employment laws, and data privacy regulations.
· Keeps up to date with changes in payroll laws and regulations.
· Provides training to current and new employees on timecard requirements.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
· Maintains high level of customer service at laboratory and client locations.
· Must take all assigned Human Resources trainings and classes.
· Responsible for attending all department and staff meetings.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
· Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
· Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage & hour laws.
· Proficient with, or has the ability to quickly learn ADP payroll software, Microsoft Excel, and similar computer applications.
Education and Experience:
· Associate degree in related field, preferred.
· Prior experience in related field, required.
· Experience with multi-state payroll processing, preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
