Job Summary
The Senior Associate, Loan & REO Asset Management will be a member of a team responsible for the management and resolution of an acquired $16B commercial loan portfolio. The candidate’s primary role will be to conduct portfolio surveillance and interface with the portfolio operating partner to ensure efficient, effective execution of portfolio liquidation and monetization strategies. As a member of a small team, the candidate will be expected to participate in all aspects of portfolio management.
The Senior Associate will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional, detail-focused service alongside team members. This role involves generating timely and precise analytical information to bolster the Asset Management platform, focusing primarily on a portfolio of acquired loans with a concentration of New York City collateralized real estate property types (such as office, retail, industrial, multifamily). Interaction with borrowers, equity partners, and client representatives is a key part of the job, requiring excellent interpersonal skills and a professional, urgent approach to communication. The successful candidate will not only flourish in a team setting but also demonstrate the independence and initiative necessary for solo achievements, including the confidence to seek clarity on complex issues or tasks.

What You Will Do
- Working with senior team members to evaluate and make recommendation for individual assets and pool resolutions.
- Interfacing and engaging with servicers and brokers.
- Determining loan level risk ratings and default/timing assumptions to monitor loan performance and expected outcomes.
- Implementing and creating metrics and processes to measure operating partner performance.
- Overseeing operating partner execution and making recommendations for improved performance.
- Engaging in portfolio surveillance to identify trends to proactively manage the portfolio.
- Participating in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and ad hoc reporting and communication.
- Preparing asset resolution recommendations for senior management approval.
- Production of Investment Committee materials.
- Developing and updating sophisticated models for cash flow projections and valuations on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Performing detailed quantitative analysis, including comparisons of budgeted, actual, and forecasted cash flows.
- Responding to ad hoc financial analysis and data inquiries efficiently.
- Analyzing and providing insights on proposed resolutions.
- Conducting market research to gather sale comparables and assumptions needed for accurate valuations.
- Ensuring compliance with covenants as stipulated in loan or partnership agreements.
- Mentor and guide analysts in managing their workloads, ensuring efficient task distribution and support for their professional development.
- Oversee and ensure adherence to quality standards and procedures, identifying and addressing any discrepancies to maintain the highest level of product or service excellence.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements to continuously enhance team performance and service delivery.
- Bachelor’s Degree in real estate, finance, accounting, or a similar field required
- 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience working in Special Servicing, loan workouts, or loan asset management of credit impaired loans.
- Knowledgeable about commercial real estate transactions and terminology.
- Familiar with commercial real estate valuation methods and principles.
- Knowledge of NYC real estate market.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and adhering to deadlines.
- Possesses strong analytical and mathematical abilities.
- Excellent in both written and verbal communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
