Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Wound Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide advanced care and management for patients with acute and chronic wounds. The NP will evaluate, diagnose, and develop comprehensive treatment plans, while working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote healing and prevent complications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and treat various types of wounds (e.g., pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, surgical wounds, burns, traumatic wounds).
- Perform wound debridement, dressing changes, and other advanced wound care procedures.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as wound cultures, imaging, and labs.
- Develop individualized wound care plans, including use of topical agents, dressings, offloading techniques, and referral to specialists when needed.
- Educate patients, families, and staff on wound prevention, treatment, and care.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare providers.
- Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic medical record.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Stay updated with evidence-based wound care practices and maintain relevant certifications.
Qualifications:
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in [State].
- National certification as a Family, Adult-Gerontology, or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
- Certification in wound care (WOCN, WCC, or similar) preferred or willing to obtain.
- Minimum [1–3] years of clinical experience in wound care or related field.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment:
- May include inpatient units, outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, or home visits.
- Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting of medical equipment or patients.
