Job Summary
The Wound Care Nurse plays a critical role in the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with acute and chronic wounds. This position requires a compassionate and skilled nursing professional who can provide specialized care to enhance patient recovery and comfort. The Wound Care Nurse will collaborate with healthcare teams to develop individualized care plans, ensuring optimal healing outcomes for patients across various settings.
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate patients' wounds, documenting findings accurately in medical records.
- Develop and implement comprehensive wound care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Administer wound treatments, including dressings, debridement, and advanced therapies.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care techniques and preventive measures to promote healing.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on clinical findings.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients with complex needs, including those in home care settings.
- Maintain adherence to infection control protocols and sterile processing standards during all procedures.
- Provide support in critical care settings, including ICU, ensuring the highest level of patient safety and comfort.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy to assess wounds effectively and apply appropriate treatments.
- Stay current with advancements in wound care practices, including esthetic laser treatments and botulinum toxin applications when applicable.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license (RN or LPN) in the state of practice.
- Proven experience in wound care management or related nursing fields such as ICU or critical care.
- Knowledge of anatomy and sterile processing techniques is essential.
- Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Familiarity with home care practices is beneficial for providing comprehensive patient support.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about their wound care regimen.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment while demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
