What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Supply Technician position at Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation?
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To prepare sterile supplies for the hospital and clinics with the highest level of quality possible. To support the Licensed Providers and Registered Nurses in the re-processing of reusable medical equipment so it is available when needed. The position is located in the central Sterilization services department of the BBAHC.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Demonstrates ability to read and comprehend complex operation manuals.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills used in maintaining CSR supplies and inventories.
- Ability and willingness to complete an intense orientation program involving medical equipment usage, maintenance and cleaning as well as participating in periodic updates to maintain proficiency.
- Experience in working with hospital supply and/or medical equipment desirable.
- Good personal hygiene required.
- Basic medical terminology beneficial.
- Must be conscientious regarding detail and following procedures.
- Must be dependable.
- This individual must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the equipment status and interpret and appropriate information needed to maintain the quality and infection control standards and required testing of the sterile processing machines.
- Must be able to work with chemicals appropriate for area.
- Must have initiative and be able to work independently.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
