What are the responsibilities and job description for the Floriculture Dept Chair position at Bristol County Agricultural High School?
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach the Floriculture curriculum and supervise students as per teaching schedule and contract.
Develop lessons, demonstrations, quizzes, labs, and tests using formative and summative assessment methods to ensure student growth.
Provide a safe school learning environment by way of supervision and support of all students.
Keep accurate records of student progress utilizing required data systems and reporting methods as instructed by administration.
Use and integrate technology for the purpose of communication, grading, instruction, and curriculum development.
Assume responsibilities and duties assigned to teachers as per teacher contract.
Assist students with placement, career counseling, and matriculation to post-secondary opportunity.
Demonstrate knowledge of current state and national standards, frameworks, and other curriculum-specific requirements.
Provide differentiated instruction to adapt curriculum to the needs of each student.
Comply with all accommodations and modifications as required by Individualized Education Plans and 504 Plans.
Establish and maintain protocols to ensure compliance with student handbook and demonstrate effective classroom management.
Attend Department Chair and faculty meetings.
Abide by school operating procedures and policies.
Cooperate with staff members for the purpose of scheduling and placement of students.
Oversee department operations, equipment, facilities, curriculum and personnel.
Serve as an educational leader of the department by leading curriculum development, alignment and implementation of educational initiatives and standards/frameworks. Ensure that course outlines and description are current.
Chair department meetings, submit minutes to the Principal to communicate curriculum improvement, staffing, scheduling and department related matters.
Develop and submit department budget requests and purchase orders.
Monitor inventory and submit facility and equipment maintenance requests.
Ensure active participation of the department in the school’s annual Fall Show.
Develop and maintain an Advisory Board that consists of industry professionals and post-secondary representatives. Organize and chair a minimum of two Advisory Board Meetings annually. Encourage industry and community relationships that serve as a resource to the department, school and its students.
Develop a management plan for the department which ensures a professional, safe and efficient daily operation.
Organize, market and manage retail sales of department product; such as plant sales and flower shop operations.
Organize and participate in community and industry events. Create partnerships with organizations to promote the Floriculture program.
Contribute to school functions by orchestrating appropriate floral components for meetings, prom, special events, etc.
Assume all other responsibilities identified in the collective bargaining agreement and/or as assigned by the Principal.
