Job Title : Human Resources Director

Reports to : President / CEO

Supervisory Responsibilities : None

Position Objective / Summary : The Human Resources Director is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and strategic evaluation of the human resource function. This position is the sole HR person for 2 locations, Lima NY and

Cottage Grove, MN

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with leadership team and department managers to ensure smooth operation and overall strategic alignment to company goals related to Human Resources.
  • Make recommendations for process improvement and strategic alignment within the organization.
  • Administer all employee benefit programs (examples include healthcare, disability, paid family leave, retirement, and other voluntary benefits), including coordinating open enrollment.
  • Handle benefit inquiries to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution.
  • Post open positions, recruit, screen, and interview job applicants. Participate in job fairs and other recruiting events.
  • Promote and monitor employee engagement; plan and execute various employee events and programs to reinforce the desired company culture.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and manage onboarding process, ensuring a proper welcome for new employees.
  • Manage offboarding process for terminated employees.
  • Facilitate and / or provide training to the workforce as required; collaborate with leaders to assess and fulfill training needs.
  • Present employees pertinent HR information at all employees’ monthly meetings
  • Handle employee relations issues with proper discretion, candor, and urgency.
  • Establish and maintain a compensation structure that facilitates internal and external (regional / industry) equity.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.
  • Maintain HR compliance with all applicable regulations, such as ACA, FMLA, FLSA, 401k Year End testing, etc.
  • Review and update employee handbook and policies as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain employee files, assuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality.
  • Plan and execute the conversion of hard copy employee files to electronic storage in the human resources information system.
  • Coordinate employee referral, recognition, and incentive programs.
  • Assist the company safety team to ensure safety training and compliance of all employees.
  • Facilitate annual performance review process.
  • Manage employee rewards programs.
  • Manage all unemployment claims.
  • Manage relationships with HR vendors; work with Accounts Payable to process benefits and payroll vendor payments as needed.
  • Document HR procedures; streamlining, automating, and updating on a regular basis.
  • Maintain a logical, organized, online file structure for HR-related documents.
  • Manage ad hoc and planned projects related to Human Resources.

  • Knowledge of employment law and other government compliance regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential issues
  • Time management : the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills- both written and verbal
  • Experience using all MS Office products and Paylocity preferred
  • Professional appearance and presentation required
  • Exceptional organization skills and keen attention to detail
  • Education Requirements :

  • Minimum : Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, or a related field preferred
  • 3 years’ experience in Human Resources Leadership
