Assists in maintaining a sufficient supply of clean linen to meet the needs of the organization. Answers phones, fills orders for clean linen. Organizes clean linen carts and provides linens and related items on a timely basis to all users.
Perform a variety of tasks associated with washing, processing, storage and distribution of various laundry items.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs assigned laundry department activities.
- Performs all duties involved with the processing of the laundry including: placing compatible laundry in the washing machine; adjusting machines to ensure proper water temperature; removing cleaned laundry from machines when cycle is complete; placing clean laundry in the dryers, starting the machine cycle; removing dried laundry from machine when the cycle is completed, removing clothes from the dryers, sorting and folding the laundry, pressing the laundry as needed, and return to resident or facility closets. This process shall relate to either the general laundry or personal laundry.
- Assists with Housekeeping Department tasks as assigned by Facilities Manager.
Cleans and maintains assigned equipment.
- Carries out routine cleaning and/or maintenance tasks on assigned pieces of laundry equipment, carts, shelves, etc.
- Reports any defective equipment or other questionable matters to Laundry Manager. Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Observes all safety and sanitation regulations.
- May be assigned temporarily to other laundry areas, according to departmental needs, and as qualified by training and experience.
Educational / Minimum Requirements:
Some high school.
State/Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements:
None
Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements:
General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Other programs as mandated by Ingraham Manor.
Special Requirements:
Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers.
Physical Requirements:
Includes but not limited to: standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting, and lifting up to 35 lbs. occasionally; repetitive manual tasks throughout the work shift. Vision, hearing, smell and tactile sensation corrected or accommodated to normal.
Work Environment:
Regular exposure to laundry elements, heat and humidity, machinery noise and resident elements.
Cognitive Requirements:
Ability to read, comprehend and execute written and oral instructions. Ability to complete accurately departmental forms.
